To be fair, there is a reason Misty was so terrified of it.

Ahh, touché to your artist comments. This depiction of Caterpie is definitely something else... and it definitely portrays a horrific, yet realistic, view of the bug Pokémon - Caterpie. Misty's reaction becomes a little more understandable when you see Caterpie from this perspective.

This is a completely original and new idea, I've never seen artwork of Caterpie (or much of Pokémon in general, but that's just me) and I never anticipated to see something such as this. It surprises me in a way that I never expected a cute cartoon bug to appear quite as 'forocious' (is that correct terminology there?) as it does here, it has one think whether it's quite frightening in the world of Pokémon.

Despite the small defects with the legs (to be honest, I hadn't noticed this until reading previous critique this work has received, so it really can't be all that bad), I'd say that this artwork was created exceptionally. The colours are realistic and yet they still coincide with the original design somewhat - the patterns on Caterpie's back, the green colouring - and the background colour clashes with the pokémon depiction, but not in a bad way. It brings out the portrayal further, making it stand out against the purple. And like another critique covers - I particularly like the tail pincers.

I'm not particularly brilliant at writing critiques analysing imagery (hence why I don't do this often), but I do hope I managed to portray my observations a little here.

Five stars, this is brilliant.
